GFS Europe: Anomalia di Geopotenziale a 500 hPa
In queste mappe sono riportate con un plot a fasce colorate le
differenze tra il geopotenziale a 500 hPa previsto e la media climatologica
(ottenuta dai dati del periodo 1979-2008).
Le zone di colore tra il giallo ed il rosso indicano una anomalia positiva,
mentre zone di colore tra il celeste ed il viola indicano una anomalia negativa.
Sulla colorbar a destra del plot sono riportate le differenze in metri ottenute.
La data e l'ora UTC di emissione della previsione sono
riportate sulla didascalia in alto a sinistra della figura, mentre il giorno e
l'ora UTC ai quali la previsione si riferisce sono riportati in alto a destra.
Modello di previsione: GFS a risoluzione spaziale 0.5°x0.5° (lat x lon).

Notes on GFS forecast maps
The Global Forecast System (GFS) is a National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP)
weather forecast model that generates data for dozens of atmospheric and land-soil variables,
including temperatures, winds, precipitation, soil moisture, and atmospheric ozone concentration.
The system couples four separate models (atmosphere, ocean model, land/soil model, and sea ice) that work
together to accurately depict weather conditions.
GFS is a global model with a base horizontal resolution of 0.25° (28 kilometers) between grid points.
The GFS is run 4 times a day, the temporal resolution covers analysis and forecasts out to 16 days.
